Is Online Reputation Management or ORM just a passing fad?

  1. No. It’s not a fad. ORM is a reality today because the Internet is no longer a reliable space for building names. Quite often, a single line of bad-mouthing on the Internet can do more damage than expected. Right from small startups to mega corporate houses, building a spot-free reputation in the virtual space is a big challenge. Besides having knowledge of the correct tools to disseminate knowledge about your business, you also need to be sure that your name is not sullied by a sly opponent.
And to counter that, ORM is a must. Online Reputation Management is a mix of advanced analysis and strategy-making. ORM specialists analyze the scenario of a business’ current online reputation. Depending on the condition, they create strategies to build a credible reputation. While many people mistake ORM with Digital Marketing, the two fields are entirely different. The second has a wide scope of work, but ORM has a focused job to do.

  2. I don’t think it’s a passing fad. It’s actually the real thing because every business worth its salt needs a good reputation.

  3. May be not. Because there are so many lies floating in the virtual world that we need ORM docs to save us from malignant lies about our reputation

  4. Not just quite often, but mostly, a single word against a brand can totally bring it thousands of notches down from where it was. And these reputation management firms are doing a commendable service.

  5. True. I agree with what is said above. I have been in the same position a few years back and believe that no matter how strong your brand is just one dissatisfied customer or revengeful employee can destroy it completely.
